Teachers

Maggie: Maggie has been living, practicing, and teaching yoga under the crisp pink of the Sandia Mountains (Albuquerque) for nine years. Maggie has been teaching yoga as a part-time faculty member of the Physical Education Department at the University of New Mexico for the last five years. She has volunteered teaching yoga with many diverse populations ranging from The Albuquerque Women's Domestic Violence Shelter to the people of Dakar, Senegal. Maggie's style is playful, challenging, and yet unpredictable. Maggie began teaching yoga at Sani Yoga Studio about two months ago and looks forward to seeing you in class!

Liz: Liz has been studying yoga since high school, attending ashtanga classes with her mother. She still makes time to continue studying yoga every chance she gets! Her classes are a combination of strengthening postures, arm balances and variations of vinyasas. Her sense of humor and upbeat attitude make every pose, even the most challenging, seem within reach!

Danny: Daniel has studied yoga since 2001, although his primary focus is in studying Martial Arts (Muay Thai KickBoxing,Capoiera & Brazilian Ju-Jitsu). Along his life he has had the honor of studying several other styles such as Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kung Fu and Wrestling. There has always been an acrobatic side to Daniel's way of expressing the arts, coming from both Gymnastics and Yoga. Many Martial Artists would agree that learning the Martial Arts takes its toll on the body. Yoga is the answer to this problem!

Padri: Pádrí started on the Yoga path as a teenager, on the East Coast. For the last fourteen years, he has travelled the road of Ashtanga-Vinyasa and Tibetan Tantric Yogas. He has integrated yoga with his work in the theatre as a fight choregorapher, as well as teaching the rambunctious youth of California, and the amazing people he has met since arriving in New Mexico. He is influenced and inspired by the Tantric concept of Kadag-primordial purity. He believes all sentient beings have the capacity to build stronger, happier more enlightened space within themselves-and allow that enlightenment to radiate into the world. He is a student of HE Garchen Rinpoche, and Kenchen Tsultrim Rinpoche-both highly revered teachers of the Drikung Kagyu Buddhist lineage. His teaching style emphasizes strength, vigor, humor, and courage.
